Up to this point the best qualities of the series were its action pace and entertaining cast. This show is from 1984, but the visuals still looked like something from the mid to late 70's. This is even weirder considering that Sunrise and people who made Gundam worked on it. But where this anime shines is on ideas. The island is full of secrets, and a big evil corporation wants to exploits that. There are a bunch of shady characters. The show also talks about humanity and its evolution. In short, it reminded me of Evangelion.
Overall, Giant Gorg is an interesting show with some provocative ideas, and it retains the classic elements of old school anime. It is a series that I can consider a classic because it is still fun and entertaining today, and its themes and ideas have influenced action-adventure and sci-fi shows that came after it. I recommend every one to track down and watch this old but important anime.
And I have one more comment on the Spring 2017 season. I addition to the 10 shows I followed week to week, I watched three more shows: KADO: The Right Answer, Eromanga Sensei and SukaSuka. I generally liked them, and it is another proof of how good this last Spring season was.
