Synopsis
In the Demon Realm The Hero continued to battle the possessed Demon Queen.  He was finally able to get through her by reminding her of their shared feelings.  The Demon Queen spoke to her demon subjects about her authority and also realized that many demons still hate the humans.  In the human world the Knight was able to stall the hostilities, and the arrival of snow helped.  Despite the momentary peace, humans and demons continue to plot to have the war continue forever.

Analysis
Episode 12 of Maoyu was a nice conclusion to the series.  The Demon Queen and The Hero have made significant advances in improving the human world and its relation with the Demon Realm, but a lot of work remains to be done.  This episode gets a 10 out of 10.  I definitely enjoyed Maoyu, and I hope more anime is made in the near future.  I really like how this series can seamlessly combine real world issues and otaku-laced humor.  The overall grade for the series is a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
Yuriko announced the formation of a new club aiming at having fun, and not prove to the world that psychics are real.  Yuriko also asked forgiveness to Haruka for having used her.  The best part of the episode was when Haruka's mother went to the daughter's home.  The mother behaved in her usual witchy ways.  Both started to argue and had a brief pillow fight.  Afterwards, Haruka read her mother's mind and realized that their separation deeply hurt both.  At the end Haruka and Yoshihisa confessed their love to each other.

Analysis
Episode 12 of Kotoura-san was a bit unbalanced in tone, but it offered some closure to the series.  The highlight of the show was of course the apparent reconciliation between Haruka and her mother.  Although it was emotive, I kind of feel cheated because things seem to have been solved so easily.  Could not this have been solved before without so much running around?  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.

In the final analysis Kotoura-san is a mediocre series.  It had potential to do some very interesting things with its drama angle and comedic situations.  Unfortunately, the two aspects almost never meshed well together.  There were some nice moments in the series, but only two or three episodes were very good.  Kotoura-san began as a very promising series, but it shone to soon and was not able to recapture its early success.  The overall grade for the series is a 6 out of 10.

Synopsis
Saki figured that the Ogre did not posses Death of Shame in regard to other humans.  But since she (the Ogre) grew among monster rats, she had to have a Death of Shame in regards to monster rats.  Kiroumaru let himself be killed by the Ogre, and she died as a result of Death of Shame.  Afterwards, Squera gave his reasons to rebel to Saki and Satoru.  Squera was unjustly judged and horribly tortured by the humans.  Saki and Satoru also learned that the monster rats were originally humans with no Power, who were genetically manipulated.

Analysis
Episode 25 of From the New World was very good and powerful.  My greater conclusion is that humans apparently learned little about respecting their kind.  Humans made so many mistakes in the name of order, but they continued to be as arrogant as the doomed generations from the past.  It would appear that the lessons from this rebellion would soon be forgotten because it was perpetrated by lesser beings.  This episode gets a 9 out of 10.

In the final analysis From the New World was a series with an imaginative concept.  It was very good at making the audience think about the benefits and disadvantages of humans having intelligence and power.  I wish some things have been better fleshed out, but it was a very engaging experience throughout.  From the New World has been my favorite anime series from the last two seasons because it was smart and often left me with something interesting to chew on.  The general grade for the series is a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
The young merchant and the dragon princess continued their economic schemes.  They spoken with a financial official of the Southern Nations (and former student of the Demon Queen) and asked for several economic breaks, but revealed their desire to establish commercial relations with the Demon Realm.  Meanwhile, the Demon Queen emerged from her slumber in a castle in the Demon Realm, but she had been corrupted by the spirits of old demon kings.  The war also began, but the Knight is working on avoiding as little human casualties as possible.  At the end of the episode The Hero arrived to the Demon Realm (which is actually underground the human world) to save the Demon Queen.

Analysis
Episode 11 of Maoyu was very heavy on the economy side, but it has started to head the series toward a resolution.  The economic aspect of the series is interesting, but it can be hard to follow.  I am very glad that the young merchant and the dragon princess have noble intentions.  Like I mentioned the series is starting to move closer to a resolution, but there several still unresolved issues, mainly conspirations  against the Demon Queen, among humans in leadership positions.  This was a nice episode, but I can only give it a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
Yuriko was attacked by the criminal, but Daichi (Muroto) protected her with his small body.  Daichi ended in the hospital, and Haruka proceeded to blame everything on her.  She went for a walk and ran into Aki Tsukino, the female detective investigating the criminal.  She took Haruka home.  Meanwhile, Hiyori confessed to Yoshihisa, but he of course rejected her.  At the hospital Daichi awoke and a crying and regretting Yuriko apologized to him.  In the end Aki  turned out to be the criminal.

Analysis
Episode 11 of Kotoura-san started to wrap up Kotoura-san.  It was kind of surprising that Aki was the actual criminal.  She is a tormented soul who seems to have developed a double personality because she was constantly bullied as a child (she is freakishly tall).  The scene at the hospital between Yuriko and Daichi was emotional and sweet.  I like this episode, but it took a while to do something meaningful.  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
After Saki, Satoru and Kiroumaru met up, the latter decided that they should try to deal with Squera once and for all.  Saki and Satoru agreed to it.  Throughout this Shun's voice kept telling Saki that the child of Maria and Mamoru might not be an Ogre.  When the Ogre ambushed Mamoru and Saki, he threw the Psycho Buster at the Ogre.  Fearing that the Psycho Buster would also affect Satoru, Saki obliterated (with fire) the Psycho Buster.  The situation seems very precarious, but Saki appears to have a good idea.

Analysis
Episode 24 of From the New World was kind of disappointing.  Similar to the previous episode, not much was added to build up for the conclusion.  We will see if the conclusion can be epic and climatic.  Also, early on the episode it is revealed that Saki most likely saw a vision of Shun, and not the flesh and bones version.  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
The Hero and his allies (including the Winter King) continued to think of ways to counteract the threat of the Church and the Central Nations.  During all this the young merchant schemed a plot to make himself rich.  In the process, this created an economic crisis in the the Central Nations and other countries.  The only healthy region was the Southern Nations (where the Demon Queen resides) and the Winter Country.  This led to tensions that culminated in the Church and Central Nations declaring war on the Southern Nations.

Analysis
Episode 10 of Maoyu was interesting but kind of complicated.  The economic lesson given by the young merchant was illuminating, but it seemed to be disconnected from the greater world in this anime.  A more interesting development was a secret meeting between a young and charming demon dragon princess and the young merchant.  They might be planning something that could thwart the peace plans of the Demon Queen, The Hero and the Knight.  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
Hiyori was arrested for suspicion of being the perpetrator of the recent attacks.  Haruka read her mind and found out that Hiyori was innocent.  The other members of the ESP Research Club tried to make a case (with the police) for Hiyori's innocence.  She was letter released when another case occurred.  Despite this, Haruka decided to track down the real criminal.  Yoshihisa refused, but Yuriko supported the idea as a way to pay back the police for using her mother's psychic powers and then abandoning her.

Analysis
Episode 10 of Kotoura-san was quite good actually.  We saw again the manipulative and sinister side of Yuriko, but her heart seems to be in the right place this time.  I liked that Yoshihisa pointed to Haruka her attitude to put on her shoulders all the bad things that happen to the people around her.  The rest of the episode was pretty straight forward.  This episode gets a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
Saki and her party continued to traverse the underground of Tokyo and finding all kinds of mutated creatures.  The group arrived at an underground river, and Kiroumaru suggested the group split in two.  Saki and Inui went back to the beach to retrieve the submarine and navigate the underground river.  After the apparent sacrifice of Inui, Saki found a facility and took a strange item (probably the Psycho Buster).  Throughout all this Saki remembered Shun and apparently found him in the flesh at the end of the episode.

Analysis
Episode 23 of From the New World continued the build up for the grand finale.  Besides the potential presence of Shun and its implications, Inui was also mistrusting of Kiroumaru because he appeared to suspiciously know too much about Tokyo.  This episode was very good, but I do not see much excitement, considering that the series has only two episodes left.  Hoping that From the New World has a great conclusion, I give this episode a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
The episode began with a pairing of female and male detectives investigating a series of attacks on teenager girls.  It turns out that at the end of the last episode Haruka apparently read the mind of the perpetrators of these attacks.  The rumors circulating at school made Haruka uneasy.  Yuriko and Hiyori called Haruka's grandfather to cheer Haruka up.  All the gang, except Hiyori, had dinner at a luxurious hotel.  There they run into Haruka's mother, who actually defended the daughter from Yoshihisa's harassment.

Analysis
Episode 9 of Kotoura-san was uneven but kind of revealing.  The thing that struck me the most is that Haruka's mother actually protected her.  Maybe this is the start of a reconcillation.  Speaking of Haruka's mother, how can she be so cold and mean toward her daughter?  There were also a couple of odd things that will probably be sorted out in the upcoming episodes.  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.
