Synopsis
Shun had been absent from Unified Class, and the children (well, now teenagers) were worried that something bad might have happened to him.  Saki and Satoru went looking for him at a town named Pinewood.  They did not find him, but apparently something bad had happened at that town.  After a conversation with her parents about the whereabouts of Shun, Saki recalled that she apparently used to have a brother, who was possibly eliminated by the Ethics Committee.  Saki went alone to look for Shun after Maria told her that he might be in real danger.

Analysis
Episode 9 of From the New World was very interesting.  It is clear now that Shun is in a lot of trouble with the Ethics Committee.  It is also evident that Saki cares deeply about Shun.  Probably the biggest development in this episode was that some of the rumors about the adults killing certain children/young people might be true.  This series becomes more intriguing with each new episode.  I am very happy that this series is so interesting.  This episode gets a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
Upon waking up, Shizuku was greeted by a breaking and entering Haru, and the bad news that Shizuku's dad's store had gone under (for the sixth time!).  Shizuku immediately got to work on it and could not spend much time with her friends, who were doing a study group.  Shizuku also remembered when her mom decided to work, apparently, as a result of her dad's ineptitude.

While at a restaurant, Natsume and Sasayan ran into a pair of gossiping girls, who talked bad things about Asako.  When Mitsuyoshi suddenly showed up, Natsume could not hide her happiness for him being there.  Yamaguchi ran into Shizuku at the library and chatted about Haru.  In the next to last scene, Haru asked Yamaguchi if he was in love with Shizuku.  Yamaguchi replied if there was a problem with it.

Analysis
Episode 9 of My Little Monster was full of revelations and surprises.  To start, the fact that Shizuku's mom is a working woman reveals why the daughter wants to follow an independent path.  Natsume keeps being cute, and her behavior indicates that she might be in love with Mitsuyoshi; poor Sasayan.  Finally, Yamaguchi seems to be falling for Shizuku, and a confrontation (possibly very ugly) between him and Haru.  This episode also seems to set the table for the conclusion of the series.  This episode gets a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
Two years have passed, and the children are now 14 years old.  Lots of things seem to have changed.  Most notably the fact that the students at Unified Class appear to be encouraged to have homosexual relationships; Shun and Satoru are a couple, Saki is with Maria and poor Mamoru has a one sided crush with Maria.  After Shun broke up with Satoru, the former began to act strange.  Shun later told Saki that he (and possibly the rest of the children) is probably going to be punished for what happened two years earlier.

Analysis
Episode 8 of From the New World was powerful.  The relationships between the characters have evolved, but they seem to still care a great deal for each other.  There is not much to analyze story-wise.  The next episode will probably have more story progression.  This anime keeps throwing more curve balls, but it adds more to the intrigue of this daring story.  This episode gets a 9 out of  10.

Synopsis
The school held a cultural festival, and Haru's class hosted a horror house.  The episode was quite eventful.  Yamaguchi ran into Shizuku, and she decided to invited to hang out.  As a result, Haru felt jealous and while trying to hit Yamaguchi, accidentally punched Shizuku.  Yuuzan also showed up, and Haru almost recreated an incident from elementary school (beating a girl?; Chizuru in this case).  At the end of the episode Shizuku was a bit more sincere with Haru and asked him for time to think about their relationship.

Analysis
Episode 8 of My Little Monster was quite interesting and revealing.  First, Yamaguchi continues to give hints that he seriously likes Shizuku.  Haru's almost recreation of the incident from the past hints at the possibility that Haru might have serious psychological issues.  I am also glad that Sasayan and Natsume received more screen time; she continues to be cute and adorable (although, Mitsuyoshi consoling her was kind of creepy).  Overall, this very good episode gets a 10 out of 10.

Synopsis
A tired Satoru did the best he could to not be over powered by the Ground Spiders.  Things looked dire for Saki, Satoru and Squera but were saved by the biggest monster rat colony, Giant Hornet, and its leader, Kiroumaru.  However, Satoru and Saki fled because they feared the Ethics Committee had ordered Kiroumaru to kill them for hearing the Minoshiro.  Saki and Satoru found the other children, and were secretly aided by the Giant Hornet colony to return home.  Saki also helped Shun to unseal his power.

Analysis
Episode 7 of From the New World was largely uneventful.  The most interesting thing to me was learning that there are powerful monster rats colonies like the Giant Hornet.  Another interesting thing was the less than cheerful reflections of Saki when finally returning home.  Next episode has a time jump.  Episode 7 gets a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
Haru tried to respect the wishes of Shizuku (give her personal space) as best as he could.  But he had a hard time doing it.  Chizuru continues to struggle with her feelings toward Haru, but, yet, continues to give him advice about Shizuku.  Yamaguchi made a reappearance at a cram school, where Shizuku goes to.  Oddly enough, Yamaguchi might not be that different from Shizuku.  The episode ends with Haru reaffirming his love for Shizuku, but she keeps refusing to officially fall for him.

Analysis
Episode 7 of My Little Monster was quite enjoyable.  The usual antics between Haru and Shizuku continue to be entertaining, and somehow, they have gotten more used to each other.  Things seem to have become more "electric" every time Haru and Shizuku are together on screen.  Also, Chizuru is becoming a more likable character to me.  On a dull note, Natsume and Sasayan are losing more and more screen time.  They seem to have a lot of potential as characters.  Regardless, this episode gets a 9 out of 10.

Synopsis
Saki and Satoru manage to survive an attack from the Ground Spiders (another enemy of the friendly rats).  They, however, get trapped inside the cave.  But Saki manages to unseal the powers of Satoru, who was able to get them out.  Satoru proceeded to, almost in a sadistic way, eliminate the queerats (rebel monster rats).  They met with Squera (the talking rat) to take revenge on the Ground Spiders.  After constant fighting, Satoru got tired.  The episode ends with an encounter with hundreds (if not thousands) of queerats.

Analysis
Episode 6 of From the New World was hectic and kind of confusing.  Saki and Satoru keep discovering more secrets from their world.  Satoru was scary when he began attacking creatures, and his powers seem pretty overwhelming too.  There was not much plot advancement either.  Next episode promises to show more revelations and intense moments.  This episode gets a 8 out of 10.

Synopsis
Shizuku is clearly affected by Haru's presence, but she is doubting if it is what people call love.  To further complicate matters, Chizuru has developed romantic feelings toward Haru.  In a strange fashion Chizuru has entered Haru's circle of friends.  The highlight of this episode to me was when Chizuru questioned Haru's manliness because his nonchalant attitude seems like apathy towards Shizuku.  There was some interesting character development on Shizuku's past, and the fact that her mother left her family.

Analysis
A lot of things happened in episode 6 of My Little Monster.  Chizuru has developed romantic feelings toward Haru in a very short time.  Shizuku has gone from being jealous and hopelessly in love to deciding that her studies and future are more important than love.  The detail of Natsume being upset because Shizuku does not confide things with her was intriguing.  I would like to give a 9 to this episode (it gets a 8 out of 10) but the creators are doing a bad job not developing more on all the information being dumped.

At the midpoint (assuming it is 12 episodes long) My Little Monster is a good series, but it is dangerously in risk of becoming mediocre.  The premise is still interesting, but the creators need to step it up and focus on fewer story lines.  The show has become kind of convoluted in the last few episodes.
